Holiday Fun in Shelby Township 2018

Holiday family fun is happening all season long in Shelby Township and surrounding areas! Here are just a few ideas for all ages:

  • Gingerbread Barn at Wolcott Mill Metropark
    November 24 and 25, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

  • Tree Trimming at the Shelby Township Library
    November 29, 6-7 p.m.
    This annual tree trimming event takes place in the library atrium. Children can decorate ornaments to trim the tree or take home. Cookies and refreshments will be served. Learn more.
  • Heritage Holidays at Wolcott Mill Metropark
    November 30-December 1, 7-8 and 14-15; 6-9 p.m.
    Bring the entire family to the historical center for holiday fun. Children can make a craft and visit with Santa. There will also be horse drawn wagon rides, hot chocolate, mulled cider and s’mores. Learn more.
  • A Sterling Christmas at Dodge Park
    December 1, 5:45-8:30 p.m.
    A great event for the whole family! Tree lighting, music, visits with Santa, horse-drawn wagon rides, petting farm, carousel, train rides, ice skating, refreshments and more! Learn more.
  • Lunch with Santa at Wolcott Mill Camp Rotary
    December 2, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

  • Holiday Tree Lighting in Utica
    December 2, 6 p.m.
    Santa and Mrs. Claus come to downtown Utica with actual reindeer and elves. Highlights include the cast of A Christmas Carol from the Meadowbrook Theatre production. Horse drawn carriage rides, tree lighting and more! Learn more.
  • Lightbulb Ornaments at Stoney Creek Metropark
    December 3, 1 p.m.
    Create holiday ornaments and decorations using elements found in nature. For ages 5 and over. Must preregister by calling (586) 781-9113. Learn more.
  • Christmas Aglow at Shelby Township Municipal Grounds
    December 6, 7 p.m.
    Family event with many highlights including a visit with Santa, caroling, kids crafts, horse-drawn wagon rides, refreshments and more. This year’s theme is “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.” For more information, visit shelbytwp.org.
  • Breakfast with Santa at Shelby Community Center
    December 8, 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m.

  • Snacks with Santa at Stoney Creek Metropark

  • A Pioneer Christmas at Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
    December 8-9, Noon–4 p.m.
    Learn how the pioneers celebrated Christmas. The pioneer cabin will be decorated for Christmas. Crafts and activities for all ages, including old-fashioned ornament sessions. For more information, see their Facebook page.
  • Dinner and Dancing with Santa Claus at Cherry Creek Banquet Center
    December 13, 6 p.m.

  • Holiday Storytime with Mrs. Claus at the Shelby Township Library
    December 15, 2-3 p.m.
    Mrs. Claus will read holiday stories, followed by a sing-along of classic holiday songs. Children will make a holiday craft to take home and be able to have a picture taken with Mrs. Claus. Learn more.
  • Shelby Twp. 9th Annual Jingle Bell Run at Shelby Twp Community Center
    December 16, 9 a.m.
    Annual 5k run benefiting the Penrickton Center for Blind Children, Cat Tail Acres, Macomb County Special Olympics, Wounded Warriors, Shelby Fire/EMS Burn Center, National MPS, K9 Stray Rescue League and Trinity Community Care.   • Santa visits the Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center
