Spring break in Shelby Township 2018

Spring break is just around the corner! Students attending Utica Community Schools will be off March 30-April 8, 2018. Here are some fun activities and classes to keep your children entertained.

Maple Sugaring at Stoney Creek Metropark in Shelby Twp.
March 31, 1 p.m.
Learn all about maple sugaring. Take a hike through the woods to tap a maple tree. Warm up at a campfire and learn how to boil the sap into rich maple syrup. Recommended ages 4 and up. Preregistration required.

Spring Break Activities at Wolcott Mill Metro Park in Ray Twp.
April 2-15, various
Offerings for children include candle dipping on April 4 and 7, and tie dying t-shirts on April 5. In addition, the “Babies, Babies Everywhere” program celebrating baby animals on the farm takes place April 2-15, with special “Say Goodnight to the Babies” events on April 5 and 6. Some programs require preregistration.

Spring Break Art Days at Cranbrook Art Museum in Bloomfield Hills
April 2-6, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Offering five day-long workshops for children in grades Kindergarten through fourth. Each day focuses on a different theme so be sure to check out the schedule. Mini, half-day sessions available for children ages 4 and 5.

Two-day Mini Camp at Stage Nature Center in Troy
April 4-5, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Children ages 6-8 and 9-11 will explore the nature preserve, observe plants and animals. There will be games, activities and crafts.

Sounds of the Night at Stoney Creek Metropark in Shelby Twp.
April 7, 7 p.m.
Frogs, woodcock and owls, oh my! You never know what you may see or hear on a night hike. Take part in a night walk for a different perspective on nature. Recommended ages 7 and up. Preregistration required.

Open Swim at the Macomb Township Aquatics Center in Macomb Twp.
With two pools including four, 20-yard lap lanes, water slide, log run and lazy river with waterfall, a zero depth entry area, play structure and floor geysers, it will feel like you are on spring break.

If the Michigan weather cooperates, spend an afternoon at one of the many Shelby Township Parks in the area. Pack a picnic lunch and plan to take a hike, bike ride or just spend time together outdoors with the family.
